The Empress and the Silkworm

A retelling of the story of how a Chinese Empress developed the silk-spinning process over 5, 000 years ago. One day, while Empress Si Ling-Chi was enjoying some hot tea, a cocoon fell into her cup. Seeing the beautiful and strong thread that spun out of the cocoon, the Empress dreamed of creating cloth woven from that colorful thread. Color illustrations accompany the text.
